BIO-GROWN® LACTOBACILLUS NUTRIENTS
Grow Company, Inc. has developed an exclusive proprietary bio-carrier system, the latest innovation in nutrient delivery, whereby nutrients are incorporated into the biological system of natural yogurt bacteria, native to the digestive system. Yogurt nutrients have the very same impact on intestinal milieu as natural yogurt.
The friendly digestive tract bacteria, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, naturally contains a host of vitamins and minerals. This means that a wide variety of nutrients can successfully be incorporated into this new delivery system. Lactobacillus bulgaricus has been used for centuries in the traditional production of yogurt. We feel it is a particularly appropriate food to deliver nutrients in their complex form.
MANUFACTURING PROTOCOLS FOR BIOGURT™ NUTRIENTS
Biogurt™ vitamins/minerals are natural products derived from a pure culture of Lactobacillus bulgaricus grown in enriched media under carefully controlled conditions. These nutrients are manufactured by providing a controlled amount of mineral salt (vitamin) embedded into an appropriate glycoprotein matrix to L. bulgaricus during the growth and metabolization stage. This precise Biogrowth® process results in a mineral/vitamin product in its most natural environment. During the Bio-Fusion® process, the mineral salt/vitamin is added to the growing culture of Lactobacillus bulgaricus at a predetermined concentration, followed by harvesting the active culture. The mineral/vitamin Lactobacillus is then thoroughly washed through a special process using purified fresh water. The product is then spray-dried and packaged. These products, which contain the native digestive tract bacteria, provide minerals and vitamins in a form that is easily absorbed and readily bio-available.
WHY YOGURT CULTURE?
BACKGROUND
Dairy is becoming increasingly popular in the nutraceutical industry, due to its solid nutritional profile and its ability to serve as a medium for the delivery of other nutrients. Research into the function and health benefits of probiotics was first conducted by Nobel Prize-winning Russian physiologist Elie Metchnikoff (1845-1916), whose curiosity about the long lives of certain groups of yogurt-eating Russian peasants provoked him to study their dietary habits. He concluded the main cause of aging is the production of toxic substances produced by intestinal putrefaction and suggested that the consumption of lactic acid-producing bacteria (as yogurt) prevents aging.
Innovation plays a major role in the development of dairy based products. Over the past few thousand years, mankind has discovered a number of single celled living sources. A host of these single celled growth media have played a major role in the well being of mankind. Two such cultures are Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Baker's Yeast) and Lactobacillus bulgaricus (Yogurt). These cultures are the source of essential nutrients in the form of natural food. The vitamins and minerals in these products are in true biological form for better absorption by the body. The friendly digestive tract bacteria, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, naturally contain a whole host of vitamins and minerals. This means that a variety of nutrients can successfully be incorporated into this new delivery system.
Lactobacillus bulgaricus has been used for centuries in the traditional production of yogurt. Probiotics in yogurt, some dairy products, and certain supplements, contain these "good bugs"; live microbes that can improve digestion and may ease disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, and allergies, among many other benefits.
YOGURT AND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
The origin of yogurt lies in the isolated Caucasus Mountains of Russia, but today; yogurt's popularity has grown and is now consumed in most parts of the world. Yogurt was one of the first foods promoted widely because of its possible health benefits. In 1908 E. Metchnikov wrote in his book 'The Prolongation of Life' that the secret to longevity that he found in the Russian mountains was the yogurt that the people were making and eating. Since that time, many people have questioned the scientific validity of his conclusion, but the advent of probiotics has changed that. There is a growing body of evidence that probiotics or foods that contain live bacteria are good for the health.
Recently, in 2005, there were few scientific publications demonstrating the health benefits of yogurt coupled with its weight management characteristics. Researchers from the Boston based Brigham & Women's Hospital (USA) and Harvard Medical School demonstrated that contrary to our conviction, dairy fat is not associated with weight gain.
Dr. Michael Zemel, University of Tennessee, has also a relatively new concept about calcium's relationship to weight loss. It appears that getting enough calcium from dairy may trigger the body to burn fat more efficiently and could even reduce the amount of new fat produced.
In his recent study, Dr. Zemel has shown that consumption of yogurt not only helps to lose weight but also is effective at maintaining lean muscle mass. Dr. Zemel indicates that this is a critical issue when dieting -- you want to lose fat, not muscle. Muscle helps burn calories, but it is often compromised during weight loss.
ORGANIC NUTRIENTS
The benefits of vitamins and minerals are well publicized and understood. However, not all forms of vitamins and minerals are equal. Today, the term "yogurt" is synonymous with nutrition. The nutraceutical, food and health food industries, as well as the animal feed industry, now actively recognize the health benefits of consuming yogurt. Biogrown® nutrients, manufactured exclusively by Grow Company, Inc., are made via Bio-Fusion® of selected vitamins and minerals in Lactobacillus bulgaricus. This process allows an organic complex of the micronutrient to the L. bulgaricus proteins, which results in a form readily recognized and absorbed by the body. The organic, Biogurt™ nutrients exhibit following characteristics:
- Safe & Natural ingredients.
- Stable and heat resistant:
Suitable for tablets, capsules, nutraceutical, and all food applications.
- No metallic aftertaste: Natural organic Biogurt™ nutrients are ideal for functional foods due to reduced metallic taste associated with inorganic salts.
- Natural source of: Proteins, complex carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, dietary soluble and insoluble fibers, minerals and vitamins.
- Highly bio-available and easily assimilated by the human body.
